Scary ?

I was just hunting on the ever excellent www.whatis.com for the following definition:

http://searchsmb.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid44_gci932596,00.html

In trying to find it, I mistyped my query like this:

http://whatis.techtarget.com/wsearchResults/1,290214,sid9,00.html?query=6+degress

Note the typo in "degrees"

Note also, the plethora of Sponsored Links for "universities" advertising "degrees"

"Yes please, we especially want the ones that can't even spell 'degrees' !"

Vision....

I have this vision of the inside of my computer when i play things.

I put a CD in the drive and four different applications all go "MINE !" and scramble madly to be the first to play it. Sadly, Real Player, the most resource hungry and nag happy invariably wins.

When I play a Windows Media File packaged in .asf format, the same thing happens, they all go "ME ! MINE ! GIMME !" except that this time WinAmp wins, displays it proudly in its playlist then says "Naaah, dunno what to do with that". Regardless, it steadfastly refuses to relinquish control to anything that might know how to play it.

The poor file associations must be like grey, henpecked husbands and wives, forever kidnapped backwards and forwards between the various apps each time they open. "Certain file types seems to be associated elsewhere. Would you like to restore these associations? Tick box to do this every time. TICK MY BOX ! TICK IT PLEEEEEASE !"

Do you know what I mean?
